Time is not an Absolute concept , its is relative for each Frame of Reference I.e.. Each Frame of reference (coordinate system) carries its own measure of time & scale/ruler.
For our Understanding — lets consider our frame of reference ..Earth.
When you look at the stars they might be in past, it is very high probability that they are dead & gone & their light is still reaching Earth.
So we can safely say we are seeing an historical Event — PAST.
When you are reading this article you are in the PRESENT.
After reading this article, you get some cool space engine that has Warp capability to travel in space greater than speed of light (Time Travel) or travel through wormhole (as shown in famous film Interstellar) & reach some of those dying stars emitting enormous energy.
At that point, you try & look back towards Earth, you will see probably there was no Earth, probably our solar system is still not created… mankind is not there, you were not born !
So now you see the FUTURE !
